Notes: Pineapple varieties collected from widely separated geographical areas have been tested for resistance to mealybug wilt. From these tests it was determined that the commercial, Hawaiian variety of cayenne is one of the most susceptible. Tests with variety hybrids, particularly those in which cayenne was used as one of the parents, indicate that susceptibility is a dominant character.
