Notes: The fig fly (Lonchaea aristella), which lays its eggs on green fruits 30-40 days before they mature, can cause 40-70% losses. It may be controlled by spraying with fenthion during growth and deltamethrin at harvest. Stomach poison (protein hydrolysate + malathion) and traps may also be used against this pest. The fig scale (Ceroplastes rusci) may be controlled by oleoparathion and by natural predators, including Scutellista cyanea.
