Notes: [Original title: Primi reperti bioetologici sull'Encarsia aspidioticola (Mercet), nuovo parassita di Dynaspidiotus britannicus (Newst.) in Italia. Title in English: [First bio-ethological data on Encarsia aspidioticola (Mercet), a new parasite of Dynaspidiotus britannicus (Newst.) in Italy.] Conference held 28 May - 1 June 1985 in Palermo - Erice - Bagheria.] Encarsia aspidioticola, which was known in Spain and the USSR as a parasite of Nuculaspis abietis, was recently recorded for the first time in Italy on a new host, Dynaspidiotus britannicus infesting Hedera helix and Ruscus aculeatus; biological data for Italy are given for the first time, relating to adult lifespan (about 4 days in the laboratory), host-seeking and oviposition behaviour, development (which for females was that of a primary parasite and for males was that of a hyperparasite on females of its own species), the rate of active parasitism of D. britannicus (averaging 10-12% at Portici) and the life cycle (2-3 generations on the overwintered host females followed by an uncertain number of overlapping generations on the first-generation host females).
