Notes: [Original title: OcorrĂȘncia de Selenaspidus articulatus (Morgan) (Hemiptera, Diaspididae) e do predador Pentilia egena (Mulsant) (Coleoptera, Coccinelidae) em Myrtus communis L. (Myrtaceae), em Pinheiral, RJ.] The occurrence of S. articulatus and P. egena in the 4 quadrants (north, south, east and west) of M. communis were carried out in a field experiment conducted in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil during the vegetative and fruiting stages of the plant. Some 2230 specimens of S. articulatus, 1224 in the vegetative phase and 1006 in the blooming/fructification stage, were collected, 59.8% of which were adults. From the total of 965 of P. egena, 416 were immatures 549 were adults. Based on the results, M. communis may be used as plant bait. The plant may be cultivated or not around the crops of economic importance because it may function as a reservoir of the pest or of its natural enemies. Predation of S. articulatus by P. egena was, in average, 1.0-2.8 nymphs and 1.66-4.44 adults (in vegetative phases) and 1.0-3.76 and 1.0-3.98 (in blooming/fructification), with significant differences at P<0.01.
