Arévalo, R.A., & Alma, A. 1987 Unaspis yanonensis (Kuw.) nuovo fitomizo dell'entomofauna agrumicola italiana (Homoptera Diaspididae). [Unaspis yanonensis (Kuw.) a new citrus sucking insect in Italy (Homoptera Diaspididae).]. Agrumicoltura 533-538.
Notes: Heavy infestations of Unaspis yanonensis (Kuw.) on the Citrus plants growing in the western Ligurian Riviera close to the French boundary are reported. Biological, ecological, phytopathological and epidemiological aspects of this new plant sucking insect are considered and discussed. Keeping in mind both the noxious consequences to the Citrus groves and the actual difficulties of chemical control of this scale, which is Asiatic in origin, the Hymenoptera Aphelinidae Aphytis yanonensis and Coccobius fulvus is introduced, in hope that their distribution and acclimatization will provide effective control as it has in Japan. The inclusion of U. yanonensis into the A2 list of EPPO Data Sheets on Quarantine Organisms is proposed.
