  • Notes: [Paper issued by the Organisation Internationale de Lutte Biologique: Working Group, Biological Control of Citrus coccids and Aleurodids. Report of the meeting held from 18 to 23 September at Athans.] In this further paper on coccoids infesting citrus in Greece and attempts at their biological control, data relating to the past two years are presented. Aonidiella aurantii (Mask.) continued to be an important problem in some districts, but Chrysomphalus dictyospermi (Morg.) became less injurious and disappeared completely from some areas. It was found that the native parasite Aphytis chrysomphali (Merc.) had been almost completely replaced by A. melinus DeBach. Prospaltella perniciosi Tower and Comperiella bifasciata How. were introduced in 1969 against Aonidiella aurantii, but no recoveries have been made. A further introduction of C. bifasciata was made in March 1972, and it is not yet known whether this was successful. Metaphycus helvolus (Comp.) was successfully established in groves of olive and citrus in Corfu, where it parasitizes Saissetia oleae (Ol.).
