Notes: This mealybug is one of the important pests in Bangladesh, causing significant damage to the rice crop. This paper discusses its biology, the collection of parasites and natural enemies, chemical control, life history and the nature of the field infestation and damage. Other species attacking rice include Chorizococcus ilu, Dysmicoccus boninsis, D. D. oryzae, Geococcus oryzae, Nipaecoccus graminis, Planococcus lingnani, Saccharicoccus sacchari and Trionymus ceres.
