  • Notes: The Asian cochineal, Rastrococcus invadens, was detected in September 2014 in the area of Cayenne, in the French overseas department of the Guyana for the first time. R. invadens declaration letters were issued to alert the authorities phytosanitary measures of Brazil and Suriname, as well as countries belonging to COSAVE1 and CPPC2. The National Agency for Food Safety, Environment and Labor concludes that the probability of introduction of cochineal into the PRA area (French Guiana, Guadeloupe Martinique) is raised by considering the history of the invasion of R. invadens on the continent African as well as the history of invasions of other species of mealybugs in the arc of the Caribbean.
