Remarks
- Systematics: This genus, comprising two species, was introduced as type genus of the family Weitschatidae, in the group of Orthezioidea (Koteja, 2008). The male of both species W. stigmatus and W. vysniauskai are alate.
In addition to the description of (W. stigmatus and W. vysniauskai, Koteja (2008: 29) also reported on 12 inclusions of poor quality, of male, which he assigned to Weitschatus sp. Weitschatidae differs from other families by the combination of the following characters: antennal capitate setae absent (vs. present in Arnoldidae), pterostigma present on the forewing (vs. absent in Xylococcidae, Arnoldidae, Grohnidae, Serafinidae, and Xiphos, n. gen.), undifferentiated tarsal digitules (vs. clavate in Arnoldidae and Xiphos, n. gen.), small caudal extensions present or absent.
