- Systematics: Subfamily DIASPIDINAE Tribe LEPIDOSAPHIDINI (Normark, et al., 2019)
Tulefiorinia is closely related to Thysanofiorinia, but differs in having 2 pairs of pygidial lobes and the total absence of gland spines on the pygidial margin of the female; the shape of the 2nd stage which is definitely elongated and the occurrence of marginal spines only on the abdominal segments of the 1st stage (Mamet, 1959a).
- Structure: Tulefiorinia belongs to the tribe Diaspidini, having 2-barred ducts, pupillarial, the adult female being enclosed in the exuviae of the 2nd stage. Adult female elongate, with a marked depression or constriction of the margin about the level of the 2nd or 3rd abdominal segment. Pygidium with 2 pairs of lobes. Median lobes well developed, non-zygotic at base. 2nd lobes small, not bilobed (Mamet, 1959a).
