Remarks
- Systematics: Serendipicoccus iceryoides differs from Sinhalacoccus koebeli (Green), as follows (character-states for Si. koebeli are given in brackets): (i) what might be preopercular pores small and possibly loculate (large, pores closed); (ii) dorsum with 1 type of dorsal tubular duct (possibly 3 types); (iii) dorsal tubular ducts forming a broad band submedially (in a broad marginal band); (iv) anal plates each with anterior margin clearly shorter than posterior margin (anterior and posterior margins subequal in length); (v) each anal plate with setae arranged along inner margin (anal plate setae all situated near apex); (vi) stigmatic clefts distinct, narrower at margin than within cleft (stigmatic clefts shallow); (vii) each stigmatic cleft with a single seta on each lateral margin (each cleft with 9+ setae arranged in a triangle extending onto dorsum); (viii) marginal spinose setae of two sizes and shapes (of one size and shape only); (ix) multilocular disc-pores absent from thorax (present on meso- and metathoracic segments); (x) ventral tubular ducts of 4 types present (3 types present); (xi) stigmatic pore band narrow (stigmatic pore band very broad); (xii) antennae 8 segmented (antennae 6 segmented), and (xiii) tibiotarsal segmentation absent or indistinct (segmentation distinct). (Hodgson, 2026)
- Structure: “Adult female superficially resembling Icerya aegyptiaca. Dorsum covered with cushions of pulverulent, white waxy secretion; margin with a loose fringe of long, white, curling waxy processes.” Body length 3.5 mm (Green 1922: 1030). Slide-mounted material. Body oval, widest across abdomen, with distinct stigmatic clefts; anal cleft short, about 1/10th‒1/11th of body length. Body 3.4 mm long, 2.5 mm wide. (Hodgson, 2026)
- General Remarks: Good description and illustration of the adult female given by Tang (1991). Redescription and illustration in Hodgson, 2026.
