Remarks
- Systematics: Morrison & Morrison (1923) placed this genus among the group including Steingelia, Matsucoccus,, Stomacoccus and Kuwania. Diagnostic characters of the adult female were outlined by Gullan & Sjaarda (2001).
Gavrilov-Zimin, 2018, resurrected the tribe Calipappini within the family Margarodidae to place the genus Platycoelostoma in relation to other genera that he felt belonged in a subfamily of Callipappinae (Callipappus and Platycoelostoma)
