- Economic Importance: Since 2005, outbreaks of P. gossypiphilus have been recorded in most of the major cotton growing regions (Sindh & Punjab) of Pakistan, namely, Bahawal Pur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Faisalabad, Layyah, Lodhran, Multan, Muzaffar Garh, Rajan Pur, Toba Tek Sing and Khanewal, Rahim yar Khan, Bahawalanger, Vehari, Rajan pur, Jhang, Okara, Kasur, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Tando Allah Yar, Mir Pur Khas, Nawab Shah, Sanghar, Thatta, Badinand (Abbas et al. (2009).
