Remarks
- Systematics: The collection data of Neomargarodes cucurbitae Tang, 2000 is identical to that of N. cucurbitae Tang & Hao, 1995. Neomargarodes cucurbitae resembles N. chenopodium (Zheng & Wu 2024); for comparison of these species, see the remarks under N. chenopodium.
- Structure: Unmounted adult female: Body hemispherical, milk-white, densely covered by brown hair; foreleg fossorial and developed, middle and hind legs small (adopted from Tang & Hao 1995) (Zheng & Wu 2024). Slide-mounted material: Body ovoid, 14–16 mm long and about 13 mm wide; derm membranous. Antennae 6 segmented, each 400–590 μm long in total, conical and stout; all segments subequal in length, each 80–110 μm long. Scape (segment I) broadest and membranous, 210–390 μm wide, with 5–9 hair-like setae each 230–375 μm long; remaining segments sclerotized, gradually narrowing towards apex; pedicel (segment II) with a group of about 3 sensilla; segments II–V each with a row of sensory setae (each 15–33 μm long), few long hair-like setae up to 300 μm long, short setae each 25–85 μm long; apical segment 100–110 μm wide, with about 8 long hair-like setae (each 180–220), 4 or 5 sensory setae, 1 short hair-like seta, and about 4 sensory organs. Eyespots and mouthparts absent. Thoracic spiracles developed (Zheng & Wu 2024).
- Biology: Found in China, Xinjiang, on roots of cucumbers, Cucurbita melo (Tang & Hao, 1995).
- General Remarks: Description and illustration of adult female by Tang & Hao (1995) and by Tang (2000). Redescribed by Zheng & Wu (2024).
