Systematics: This species can be easily distinguished from other species in genus Neogreenia by having a claw with 2 minute denticles. (Wu & Cheng, 2006)
Structure: Adult female:body elongate with marked segmentation, orange yellowish in color, 3.75～6.05 mm long and 1.70～2.75 mm wide. Antennae ten-segmented. Mouthparts developed. (Wu & Cheng, 2006) Wu & Cheng (2006) described and illustrated the adult female and first-instar and second-instar nymphs. However, the description of the second-instar nymph of N. sophorica was based on specimens mixed with third-instar female nymphs. After examining these cysts, Zheng, et al., 2024 noticed that the second-instar nymphs had (i) far fewer large simple pores and (ii) the five anterior abdominal spiracles each had sieve-like disc-pores in the atrium, whereas the third-instar female nymphs had (i) groups of large simple pores on the dorsum and (ii) the six anterior abdominal spiracles each had sieve-like disc-pores in the atrium. They, therefore, describe the second-instar and third-instar female nymphs of N. sophorica. (Zheng, et al., 2024)
