Keys
Remarks
- Systematics: Myrtaspis marginalis is similar to Aulacaspis species in having a pair of derm pockets in addition to a frontal prominence (or a pair of swellings) posteriorly to the antennae and a spur-like process on the margin of the fourth abdominal segment. However, he referred it to Myrtaspis since the antennal setae are elongated outstandingly and the first instar has five-segmented antennae.
- Structure: Female test white, elongate oval, narrow when occurring on leaf margin; exuvial casts yellowish brown. Male test tricarinate (Takagi, 1999). Median trullae similar to lobules of second and third trullae in shape and size, basally elongate, sunken into apex of pygidium; basal ends set close together, leaving a slender space between them and appearing to be connected together by a weakly sclerotized patch of derm. Margin of abd IV with a small spur-like process between marginal macroducts. Submedian macroducts on abd III–VI; submarginal macroducts on III–V; lateral macrducts on I–III. Lateral gland spines on abd I–III; marginal gland spines 4 or 5 on IV, 2 on V. (Takagi, 2020)
