Remarks

  • Systematics: The antennae of this species have prominent spinous processes. It is also somewhat peculiar among the known species of the genus in having the slender and roughly serrate median trullae. The antennal setae attain 60μm in length and, in combination with the five-segmented antennae in the first instar, support the view that the species belongs to Myrtaspis, (Takagi, 2020)
  • Structure: Adult female. Median trullae much longer than mesal lobule of second trulla, deeply sunken into apex of pygidium, slender, divergent, a little curved laterally, with mesal margin roughly serrate; separated from each other by a space subbasally; with a pair of basal sclerites, which are set close together, united by a slender sclerotized band of derm. Second and third trullae with both lobules well represented. Antennae each with 2–4, usually 3, sclerotized spinous processes, and with seta extraordinarily elongated. (Takagi, 2020)
  • Biology: Females on the upper surface of leaves and twigs. Male tests on both surfaces of leaves and also on petioles, (Takagi, 2020)
  • General Remarks: Detailed description and illustration in Takagi, 2020.
