accepted valid name
- General Remarks: Definition and characters (adult female and cyst) by Foldi (1981, 2005a).
- Systematics: This genus is distinguished (in adult female and cyst) in possessing only two pairs of abdominal spiracles. Foldi (1981) suggested that it might be placed between Porphyrophora, in having no abdominal spiracles, and Eumargarodes, which has three pairs of abdominal spiracles.
Gavrilov-Zimin, 2018, redefined the tribe Margarodini within the family Margarodidae to include the tribes of Dimargarodini, Porphyrophorini, Eumargarodini, Neomargarodini, Tremitoccoccini, Eurhizococcini and Margarodesiini. He did so to place the genus Margarodesia in relation to other genera that he felt belonged in a subfamily of Margardinae (Dimargarodes, Eumargarodes, Heteromargarodes, Margarodes, Margarodesia, Neomargarodes, Porphyrophora and Termitococcus)
