Remarks
- Systematics: Of the species of Maacoccus that have been described in detail, M. scolopiae is typical apart from the (occasional?) presence of a few multilocular disc-pores on abdominal segment VII. (Hodgson, 2023)
- Structure: "Yellowish brown to dark yellowish brown, blackish on the median area of the dorsum, forming no ovisac, without secretion. Body nearly deltoid, bluntly pointed anteriorly, broadly rounded behind, longer than wide, a little asymmetrical, flattened, slightly convex on the dorsum, hard but not strongly chitinized, with an eminent [inverted] Y-shaped dorsal carina not reaching the body margin.” (Takahashi 1933). Slide-mounted female body shape as above, 2.9–3.3 mm long, 2.0–2.6 mm wide. Stigmatic clefts indented; anal cleft about 1/5 –1/6th total body length, with margins adpressed. (Hodgson, 2023)
- General Remarks: Good description and illustration of the adult female given by Tao et al. (1983) and by Tang (1991). Redescription and illustration of slide believed to have been mounted from dried type material by Hodgson, 2023.
