Remarks
- Systematics: Subfamily ASPIDIOTINAE Tribe LEUCASPIDINI (Normark, et al., 2019)
Normark, et al., 2019 determined that Lopholeucaspis is a monophyletic genus.
Lopholeucaspis is presumably an Asiatic derivative of Leucaspis (Takagi, 1960). Lopholeucaspis differs from Leucaspis in the adult female possessing a continuous row of duct tubercles from the abdomen forward to thorax, and in lacking the group of duct tubercles lateral to the anterior spiracles (Williams & Watson, 1988).
- Structure: Adult female pupillarial; body elongate fusiform. Pygidial dorsum with small sclerotized patches. Pygidium with 2 pairs of well-separated lobes, each lobe conical. Plates elongate, fimbriate apically; with 1 pair in each interlobular space; further anteriorly on each side, plates become broader and form a row along margin and then on ventral submargin, becoming replaced anteriorly by a row of ventral duct tubercles as far forward as anterior spiracles. Perivulvar pores present, usually in 5 groups across pygidium; with supplementary submarginal groups on 2 preceding segments. Ducts small, scattered on dorsum, dorsal ducts slightly larger than those on venter. Second-instar nymph: Pygidium with 2 pairs of well-developed lobes. Plates short, wide, fimbriate apically; numbering 7 or 8
lateral to second lobes (L2), and with 2 plates in each interlobular space. Dorsal marginal ducts well-developed on pygidial segments V–VIII, numbering 7 or 8 on each side; also present on prepygidial segments and metathorax. Dorsal ducts on most abdominal segments numbering 1 submarginal and 1 submedian on each side, but segment VII without any submedian duct. Ventral ducts and duct tubercles present on meso- and metathorax. (Moghaddam & Watson, 2021)
- General Remarks: Detailed redescription by Takagi (1969a).
