Remarks
- Systematics: Lecanodiaspis dendrobii is similar to L. prosopidis (Maskell, 1895) in having 3–5 cribriform plates on each side of abdomen; anterior and posterior spiracular setae present; each posterior spiracular furrow divided in 2; antennae each with 7–9 segments; and rudimentary legs. Lecanodiaspis dendrobii differs by having 2 long setae anterior to the vulva (absent in L. prosopidis). These species may be synonyms. Although L. dendrobii and L. rugosa have similar scale covers, slide-mounted specimens can be separated by the number of leg segments, i.e., 1 in L. dendrobii and 3 in L. rugosa. (Peronti & Kondo, 2022)
- Structure: Body of adult female purplish brown, flattened, covered by a light brown to cream-yellow test, infused with secondary white wax. Test with longitudinal mediodorsal carina intersected by transverse raised lines. Male test similarin texture and appearance but more elongate. Slide-mounted adult female body oval, 2.1–2.8 mm long. Dorsum of abdomen with 3–5 cribriform plates on each side of body. Pores 8-shaped, of 2 sizes: larger-sized pores forming a marginal band; numerous smaller pores scattered over dorsum. (Peronti & Kondo, 2022)
- General Remarks: Description and illustration of adult female by Howell & Kosztarab (1972). Description and illustration of first-instar nymph by Williams & Kosztarab (1970).
