Remarks
- Systematics: L. vaccinii macrocarpum has been considered to be: a subspecies of an armored scale; a subspecies of a soft scale; and a questionable synonym of the soft scale E. franconicum. When Goethe described the subspecies, he questioned whether it was new, and Lindinger was uncertain of the subspecies’ proposed synonymy with E. franconicum. It seems likely that all the original material has been lost or destroyed. For these reasons, L. vaccinii macrocarpum is designated nomen dubium (Campo et al, 2025).
- General Remarks: The only description is found in Goethe (1884). Illustration present but no clear copy is known.
