- Systematics: Subfamily DIASPIDINAE Tribe LEPIDOSAPHIDINI (Normark, et al., 2019)
Takagi (1970) states that the median lobes of the pygidium of Howardia are quite similar in shape to those of Andaspis and that the 1st instar larvae of these genera are also much alike by having a pair of enlarged lobes on the posterior end of the body, but that the difference between the two genera is great in the marginal ducts of the pygidium, so its unlikely that they are closely related.
