Remarks
- Systematics: The adult female of H. mangiferae can be separated from other species in the genus by having the following combination of features: (i) dorsum with 2 pairs of cribriform plates; (ii) dorsal tubercles without satellite ducts, present submarginally only, totalling 18–24 around body; (iii) preopercular pores hard to detect due to heavily sclerotization, probably totalling more than 70, in a single broad area anterior to anal plates; (iv) stigmatic spines not differentiated from marginal setae; (v) marginal setae conical, sharply spinose, totalling 82–147 on each side between anterior and posterior stigmatic clefts; (vi) ventral tubular ducts in a broad submarginal band; (vii) multilocular pores, each with 7–11 (mainly 10) loculi, abundant around perivulvar region, extending anteriorly onto median areas of venter near leg bases and anterior spiracles, also with a few anterior to antennae; (viii) antennae each 8- or 9-segmented; (ix) dorsal tubular ducts absent; and (x) a single, large dorsal sclerotization present around anal plates. (Kondo & Joshi, 2022)
- Structure: Adult female subcircular, slightly convex, sometimes asymmetrical when overcrowded; body large, 8–15 mm at widest point. Young adult females grey to brown, with a fringe of marginal waxy filaments; older specimens darker, often with marginal waxy filaments broken off. Central area of dorsum of mature adults with 6 clumps of waxy secretions and often with 4 white powdery spots. Characteristics of slide-mounted adult female. Body circular to subcircular, 5–12 mm long, 3.8–11.0 mm wide. Stigmatic clefts very shallow or absent; anal cleft about 1/3 of body length, fused. (Kondo & Joshi, 2022)
- Economic Importance: Reported to cause damage to mango trees in Thailand (Kondo & Williams, 2005).
- General Remarks: Description and illustration of adult female and first instar nymph by Kondo& Williams (2005).
