Remarks
- Systematics: Although Balachowsky (1954e) considered Contigaspis kochiae to be a junior synonym of C. zillae we agree with Borchsenius and Williams (1963a) who treated them as distinct. Borchsenius & Williams (1963a) state "the females of C. kochiae are differentiated from females of C. zillae by the smaller dorsal ducts in the median part of the pygidium, the more developed pygidial plates, the shorter median lobes and the developed disk pores near the posterior spiracles."
- Structure: Female scale pear-shaped, convex, white; exuviae yellow or light brown. Adult female egg-shaped or elongate egg-shaped in outline (Borchsenius, 1949b). Adult female scale cover pear-shaped, convex, white, with yellow or light brown subcentral exuviae. Male scale cover white and parallel sided. Slide-mounted adult female oval. Antennal tubercles each with a single curved seta and a conical projection. Anterior spiracles each associated with 4 or 5 disc pores; posterior spiracles each with 2 or 3 pores. Pygidium apparently with single median lobe (L1 completely fused), with a medial apical incision, and 1 notch on each margin. Second lobes (L2) absent (Moghaddam & Watson, 2021)
- General Remarks: Best description and illustration by Borchsenius (1949b).
