Remarks
- Systematics: Aulacaspis pericampylus is very similar to A. mesuarum Takagi, 1999, with which it shares the following character states: pores present near the anterior spiracle, prosoma just slightly wider than postsoma, presence of prosomal tubercles, presence of submedian macroducts on abdominal segment II, absence of submedian macroducts from abd. I, and inner lobule of L2 widest near apex. However, it can be distinguished by the following characteristics of the adult female (character states of A. mesuarum in brackets): (i) anterior spiracles each associated with 20–31 trilocular disc-pores (4–12); (ii) abd. VI with 3 submedian dorsal macroducts on each side (only 1); and (iii) L4 absent (L4 outer lobule represented by a low prominence). (Jian & Xing, 2024)
- Structure: Adult female scale cover white, subcircular, about 1.8–2.2 mm in diameter; exuviae dark brown, eccentric, protruding from edge of cover. Exposed body of adult female brown, pygidium yellowish. Scale cover of immature male scale white, elongate, 0.9–1.2 mm long and about 0.2 mm wide; exuviae brown, situated at anterior end of cover. (Jian & Xing, 2024) Slide mounted adult female body 825–1138 (826) μm long, 520–751 (522) μm wide; prosoma swollen, rather square in outline, slightly broader than postsoma; prosomatic tubercles each produced in a broad deltoid shape; cephalothorax and mesothorax without marked segmentation; mesothoracic margin slightly expanded posteriorly; abd. I very slightly narrower than metathorax; abd. II protruding laterally, wider than I; posterior abdomen gradually tapering posteriorly. Anal opening situated slightly anterior to center of pygidium. (Jian & Xing, 2024)
