Remarks
- Systematics: Aulacaspis machili is close to A. fagraeae, but differs by having a white to greyish white scale (not reddish), antennae more widely separated from each other, median lobes set in a deep median notch, marginal gland spines on the pygidium 6 or 7 on each side (Takahashi, 1931).
- Structure: The body shape changes with growth owing to the broadening of the cephalothorax. Adult females with the cephalothorax transversely oblong in outline, with the frontal margin flat and the mesothorax strongly expanded laterally; the body is nearly as broad as long with the abdomen gradually narrowing caudad. However, not all individuals grow in that way, and many apparently fully grown adult females remain more or less oblong, obovate, or obpyriform. Pygidium broadly triangular in outline. Anterior spiracles each with a compact cluster of many disc pores; posterior spiracles each with a mch smaller cluster anterolaterally. (Takagi, 2012a)
- General Remarks: Detailed description and illustration by Takagi (1970).
