Remarks
- Systematics: Aulacaspis amamiana is close to A. megaloba Scott. It can be told by the lack of dorsal macroducts on the second abdominal segment (Takagi, 1961a). Chen (1983) described under the name A. amamiana a scale insect collected in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, on Rubus sp. and an unidentified tree, but his figure shows a form different from the type form occurring in the Ryûkyû Islands in some details. Tang (1986) described another scale under the name A. amamiana and as occurring in Guangdong and Yunnan on unidentified plants, but his figure shows a quite different species. (Takagi, 2017)
- Structure: Female scale subcircular, convex dorsally and white. Male scale elongate, tricarinate, felted and white (Takagi, 1961a).
- General Remarks: Detailed description and illustration by Takagi (1961a).
