Systematics: This species is characterized in the adult female by having: an anal ring without setae; no legs; 2-segmented antennae; and short acorn-shaped setae (Ferris, 1955a). It is unique in having a pore plate posterior to the hind spiracle; enlarged setae scattered over dorsum and not arranged in longitudinal lines; and cruciform pores present on the dorsum and venter. Structure: Slide-mounted specimens, 0.9–2.5 mm long, 0.7–2.4 mm wide. Body oval to rotund, without protruding anal lobes. Anal-lobe areas each dorsally with 0 or 1 enlarged seta and 1 short flagellate seta; each ventrally with 2 or 3 flagellate setae and 0 or 1 cruciform pores. (Miller & Stocks, 2022)
Biology: Occurring at base of culms in leaf sheath (Ferris, 1955a). Kosztarab & McDaniel (1969) assume that this species has one yearly generation.
