Albastaspis gloria can be distinguished from most other species of Albastaspis by the presence of pores by the posterior spiracles (pores absent in most species). Compared to the few other species that share this character state, it is most similar to A. pallens in having small L1 exceeded by L2 (large L1 about even with L2 in A. brimblecombei, A. neocasuarinae, and A. xanthorrhoeae). Albastaspis gloria differs from A. pallens in having abundant sclerotized spinules in submedial areas of the ventral derm from the prothorax to abdominal segment III (derm membranous in A. pallens), L3 absent (L3 present, bilobulate in A. pallens), and L1 crenulate, parallel, similar in size and shape to inner lobule of L2 (L1 entire, divergent, much broader and lower than inner lobule of L2 in A. pallens). (Wei, Normark & Normark, 2026) The correct generic placement of A. gloria is uncertain. Wei, et al.laced it in Albastaspis based on a combination of morphological and biogeographic evidence. But according the two relevant published molecular phylogenetic analyses (Andersen et al. 2010; Normark et al. 2019), the inclusion of A. gloria renders Albastaspis non-monophyletic. (Wei, et al. 2026)
- Structure: Adult female not pupillarial. Scale cover silvery-white, elongate, with light brown exuviae at anterior end. Scale covers of type series found tightly packed around the margins of the leaves of the host. Body of adult female pale yellowish in life. Slide-mounted adult female (n=5) 1240–1350 μm long (holotype 1350 μm), 420–490 μm wide (holotype 480 μm), broadest at metathorax and abdominal segment I. Body outline elongate, quite slender with the sides of the body roughly parallel, derm membranous except for pygidium. (Wei, Normark & Normark, 2026)
