Albastaspis brevis is a highly distinctive species of Albastaspis due to its turbinate body shape, frequent presence of a marginal macroduct between L1, and presence of pores by the posterior spiracles. The only other species of Albastaspis with marginal macroducts between L1 is A. casuarinae; A. brevis can be distinguished from A. casuarinae by turbinate body shape (body elongate-oval in A. casuarinae) and by the presence of a seta on the antenna, pores by the posterior spiracle, and dorsal submedial macroducts on abdominal segments I and II (all absent in A. casuarinae). (Wei, Normark & Normark, 2026)
- Structure: Adult female not pupillarial. Scale cover white, elongate, with highly convex humped shape, and with orange exuviae at anterior end. Slide-mounted adult female (n = 3) 750–1100 μm long (holotype 750 μm), 530–840 μm wide (holotype 530 μm), broadest at metathorax or abdominal segment I. Body outline turbinate, body membranous except for pygidium. (Wei, Normark & Normark, 2026)
