Remarks
- Systematics: Subfamily DIASPIDINAE Tribe DIASPIDINI Subtribe FIORINIINA (Normark, et al., 2019)
The genus Africaspis is characterized by the nature of the median lobes, the small dentate projections replacing the other lobes and the heavy sclerotization of the marginal pores of the first two interlobular spaces. It resembles Contigaspis (Hall, 1946a). Lindinger (1937) considered this to be a junior synonym of Anoplaspis. Takagi et al., (1988) discuss the relationship between Africaspis and Cameronaspis.
- Biology: Hall (1946a) suggested that the distribution of this genus may be found to go beyond mainland Africa. Mamet (1950) supports that view with the description of species from Madagascar.
