Acanthococcus campinensis differs from A. arctostaphyli (Ferris), in having (character states of A. arctostaphyli in brackets): (i) quinquelocular pores sparse on abdominal segments (numerous), (ii) anal lobes each with inner anterior dorsal seta larger than others dorsal setae (dorsal setae all equal in size), and (ii) metacoxae each with 6–10 dorsal pores (16–96 dorsal pores).
